“I am delighted to write this letter of recommendation for Mr. Saurav Purkayastha, who is an extraordinary programmer. I have the pleasure of serving as the Chair of the Lower Mainland ESL Assessment Consortium. The Consortium is comprised of representatives from the twelve Lower Mainland Public School Districts. Members of the Consortium developed an English Reading test to be administered to students in grades eight to twelve. It is called the Lower Mainland English Reading Assessment (LOMERA). We administered the LOMERA to 4,800 students to explore its validity and reliability. Members were pleased with the results and concluded they wished to explore the development of an on-line version. The Consortium asked for proposals from different programmers. Mr. Purkayastha’s was clearly the best. Mr. Purkayastha has programmed an amazing on-line version of LOMERA. It allows individual students to take the timed test in separate locations. It produces individual results sheets for students designed to be informative for teachers. The programme is superb because as the Consortium develops new assessment measures it is designed to accommodate them. Overall, Saurav Purkayastha’s work is superb. He was responsive to our special educational needs and was willing to change basic features when requested. I recommend Saurav Purkayastha to you without reservations.
